3 Catholic diocese in N.J. cancel Masses in wake of coronavirus

March 16, 2020 – NJ.com reported that three (3) of the state’s Roman Catholic dioceses will suspend public masses due to the number of positive coronavirus patients and the extensive social distancing regulations. To see the NJ.com report, click here.

Bishop O’Connell of the Diocese of Trenton announced that all public masses throughout the diocese would be temporarily suspended through April 3, 2020 (with the date subject to change) to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Bishop Checchio of the Diocese of Metuchen directed the temporary suspension to start no later than March 18, 2020 and resume no earlier than April 3, 2020, and encourage priests to livestream their Masses online.

Bishop Arthur Serratelli of the Diocese of Paterson order the suspension of all public masses until further notice.
